When I think of a scavenger hunt, I'm taken me back to my childhood where we spent hours in the woods looking for hidden letters and clues until we finally found the treasure.
To be honest, I never thought I'd use that knowledge again and I'm sure, neither did you. But a scavenger hunt is so much fun and makes for a great activity for your next hen party!
Your bride could be looking for clues in the woods, meadows or even the city center - it doesn't matter as long as it's a well-planned! A scavenger hunt is fun for the whole group, brings some action and is a great opportunity to get to know the bachelorette party city.
In this blog post, I'll show you a few ideas for a bachelorette party scavenger hunt - all the while making sure that the tasks included in the hunt will not embarrass or expose the bride to be. Also, you don't have to involve strangers (unless you want to!).
As a first step, think about where you want the scavenger hunt to start, where you want it to end, and how much time you have for this activity. This way you can determine how many stops and tasks you need for the bride. Also, have a think about the prize to be won at each station and how it will help the bride to get to the next clue.
I've organized scavenger hunts where the bride got a puzzle piece at each stop. Putting all the puzzle pieces together gave her the solution to get to the finishing line. Along the way, there were different tasks and games for each clue. To make the clues eye-catching, you can use these pretty envelopes* or keep it simple with kraft paper envelopes*.
My favorite tasks and games for your bachelorette party scavenger hunt:
Find out the coordinates of your next stop and write them on a piece of paper; to find the place, the bride has to look up the coordinates on her phone and guide you there (of course you shouldn't let her know right away that she could use her phone - make her look for the solution!)
Create a personalized cross word puzzle online that the bride has to solve to get the next clue
This one is a bit trickier, but so much fun: Look up morse code online, create a sentence or message in morse code and let her figure out what it means
Hangman is a perfect game as well! Your bride has to solve the next clue by playing a round of hangman
Modify the well-known game "memory" and make a bachelorette party version! Have each girl send a childhood picture in advance, that you print out on square cards. Then create another card with the name of each girl in the bride squad. All the cards are placed face down on the floor or a table and the bride has to reveal all the pairs (picture + name) correctly to get the next clue.
Similar to "memory", you can also ask each girl in advance about her favorite story with the bride. What connects the bride and her girlfriends? Was it a drunken party night where something crazy happened? How did you guys meet each other? What was your biggest laugh? All stories are printed out and go into a bowl. The bride draws the stories one by one and has to guess who wrote the story This is so much fun and also a great way to get to know each other better :)
Think of a fun photo challenge that will be rewarded with a clue. Do you pass restaurants where the bride has to take a selfie with the chef? Do you ride the bus in between activities where the bride has to pretend to check tickets and ask a passenger to take a picture? I'm sure you can think of something funny!
The bride must recite her vows in the spur-of-the-moment without preparation or looking at any notes. If you want to increase the incentive, you can have her drink a shot for every "um". I guarantee you that tears will flow, and not just from the bride! Additionally, you can film the whole thing and send it to the groom before the wedding or on their first wedding anniversary.
As you can see, there's so many different games and puzzles that can be incorporated into a hen party scavenger hunt.
Make sure you have a think about what the bride has to do if she can't solve a clue on her own. Can she draw a joker like in "Who wants to be a millionaire?" and a participant of the bridal crew may help her? Or does she have to drink a shot and then get a hint? That way you're ensuring that the scavenger hunt always continues without awkward breaks nd that you arrive at your destination on time.
